Cindy Moore
Cindy Moore, a 28-year-old mother of three, decided to make the journey from her home in Ohio to Camp Dawson, W.Va. to provide assistance to the New Orleans evacuees. Her decision was based in part on her philosophy that humanitarianism must be taught to the children by example, rather than simply saying what’s right. She was joined by her mother, Penny Howard, at Camp Dawson. She and her mother worked the phones at Camp Dawson, connected evacuees to their families in other parts of the country.
