Jeff Wright

Jeff Wright is an undergraduate news-editorial journalism major at the P.I. Reed School of Journalism, with a minor in political science. He was born and raised in Avon, N.Y., about 20 miles south of Rochester.

Wright graduated from Livonia High School in 2001 and spent five months performing airport security at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City with the New York Army National Guard following 9/11.

He began school at West Virginia University in the fall of 2002. In the fall of 2003, he was activated with the soldiers of Bravo Battery 1/201st Field Artillery Regiment for Operation Iraqi Freedom. After spending a year in Iraq from February 2004-February 2005, he returned to WVU in the summer of 2005.

Since working on this project, Wright says he finds the resilience of America and the people of New Orleans and West Virginia have been nothing short of amazing. He has learned and hopes many others learn the importance of caring for our fellow Americans not only in times of need but everyday.
