Elize Butler
After spending several days in the Superdome in New Orleans, 63-year-old Elize Butler was ready to give up. “That was a time in my life I didn’t think people were human anymore,” he said, describing the crowded, stinking shelter. Then he came to Camp Dawson and found hope. He didn’t have to stay long. His boss sent him some cash and a bus ticket home. The trip, he guessed, would take three or four days. That didn’t bother him at all. “When someone is helping you, you roll with the punches.”
